Toilet roll Easter bunnies
A painted toilet roll, two big ears and a pompom for a tail: a whole family of bunnies for the Easter table.
Age : age 3+
Materials
- Toilet roll tubes : One per bunny.
- White, pink, grey or brown paint
- White paper and pink paper : For the ears.
- A pompom or a cotton wool ball : For the tail.
- Black felt tip, glue, scissors
Steps
Make it
- Paint the tube in your bunny's colour and leave it to dry.
- Cut out two long ears from white paper, then two smaller ones in pink for the inside. Glue the pink onto the white.
- Glue the ears inside the top of the tube, nice and straight (or with one flopping over, which is even funnier).
- Draw the eyes, a little pink triangle nose, the mouth and the whiskers.
- Glue the pompom low down on the back for the tail.
- Make several in different sizes (cut the tubes down): the whole bunny family.
Did you know? A rabbit's big ears help it hear danger coming, but they also keep it cool: the blood flowing through them cools down in the air.
No paint? Wrap the tube in coloured paper. And if you turn the bunny upside down and glue a card base on, the tube becomes a little egg basket.
If it goes wrong
- The ears flop down : Back them with thin card, or crease a fold down the middle.
- The paint doesn't cover : Two coats, or a coat of white first.
Safety
- Pompoms and cotton wool balls don't go in little ones' mouths.
