Cotton ball ghost
Stick soft cotton balls onto a drawn ghost: a pincer-grip activity for little fingers, with no paint.
Age : age 2+
Materials
- A sheet of dark paper or card : Navy, purple or black.
- Cotton balls or cotton pads : About fifteen.
- White glue : In a small pot, with a brush or cotton bud.
- White chalk or a light pencil : To draw the ghost.
- Black paper or black marker : For the eyes and mouth.
Steps
Make
- The grown-up draws a big ghost shape on the sheet in white chalk.
- The child spreads glue inside the shape, one area at a time.
- They place the cotton balls one by one, packed tightly, patting them down.
- They can stretch out a few balls a little to make waves at the bottom.
- Glue two eyes and a mouth cut from black paper onto the cotton.
- Leave to dry flat.
Draw a moon and stars around it, or make a sheep, a cloud or a snowman with the same technique.
If it goes wrong
- The cotton won't stay on : A drop of glue under each ball.
- The eyes slide off : Use sticker eyes, or draw with a marker on a small sticky dot.
Safety
- Cotton balls don't go in mouths: a grown-up stays next to little ones.
