Paper plate black cat
A paper plate painted black, two pointy ears and big yellow eyes: the witch's cat, as a decoration or a mask.

Materials
- A paper plate
- Black paint
- Yellow or green paper, pink paper : For the eyes, nose and inner ears.
- Black paper or cardboard : For the ears.
- Glue, scissors, marker
- Elastic or a stick : For the mask version.
Steps
Make
- Paint the whole plate black and leave to dry.
- Cut two black triangles for the ears, and two small pink triangles for the insides.
- Glue the ears at the top, behind the plate.
- Cut two big almond-shaped yellow eyes; draw a black vertical pupil in the middle.
- Add a little pink triangle nose and whiskers made of white paper strips.
- Mask version: the grown-up cuts out the eyes, then staple on elastic or glue a stick under the chin.
Did you know? Cats' pupils become slits in daylight and big circles in the dark: that's why they see so well at night.
Same idea for an owl (brown plate, big round eyes) or a pumpkin (already on the site).
If it goes wrong
- Plate warps : Thinner coat, or paint with a sponge.
- Mask makes it hard to see : Make the holes bigger.
Safety
- A mask must let you see well: big enough eye holes, and no running while wearing it.
